Ariel Almakys is a former IDF soldier who served in the Givati Brigade from 2021 to 2024.

He fought during the October 7 attacks and continued serving in combat throughout the war until his discharge.

After facing the challenges of severe PTSD following his service, Ariel traveled to a retreat in Mexico, where he met artist and veteran Tomer Peretz. The connection eventually brought him to The 8 Project, where he now works as a resident artist. His practice explores themes of memory, identity, resilience, and the personal realities of life after war.
