Ben Adam explores the fragile intersection between identity, memory, and spirit through fragments of Hebrew text embedded within layers of textured plaster. Drawing from the tradition of sacred blessings and calligraphy, Ariel Almakys partially conceals and reveals the words, allowing them to emerge like traces of memory worn by time. The work invites viewers to consider what remains visible, what becomes hidden, and how language continues to shape our understanding of the human experience long after its surface has faded

Ariel Almakys

Ariel Almakys is a former IDF soldier who served in the Givati Brigade from 2021 to 2024. He fought during the October 7 attacks and continued serving in combat throughout the war until his discharge. After facing the challenges of severe PTSD following his service, Ariel traveled to a retreat in Mexico, where he met artist and veteran Tomer Peretz. The connection eventually brought him to The 8 Project, where he now works as a resident artist. His practice explores themes of memory, identity, resilience, and the personal realities of life after war.
