Beyond its religious significance, Jerusalem is an inseparable part of Israel’s story and the broader conflict. In this work, Shaked Salton chose to portray Jerusalem in her signature WPAP pop-art style, using sharp geometric forms and bold, vibrant colors that bring energy into the city.
The work presents Jerusalem as a modern and youthful city, one that continues to evolve and resonate with future generations. For Shaked, Jerusalem represents home, identity, and a deep sense of belonging - a place where history, life, and continuity intersect.
Shaked Salton is an Israeli art director and visual artist, and a resident of The 8 Project’s residency program. Formerly working at one of Israel’s leading advertising agencies, her life shifted after October 7, when she was drafted as a combat sergeant in a search and rescue unit and lost close friends in the war. Today, her work sits at the intersection of advocacy, memory, and visual storytelling, using art as a tool for resilience and impact.
