"This painting was created during a period of exploration and experimentation as part of Project 8. Throughout the process, I felt a desire to step outside my familiar style and explore new approaches to painting.
I chose to work in a more minimalist and abstract way, leaving plenty of room for personal interpretation. The figure wrapped in a tallit appears only partially and subtly, reflecting a desire to convey a sense of connection, identity, and spirituality without telling the entire story allowing each viewer to complete it in their own way."
Shaked Salton is an Israeli art director and visual artist, and a resident of The 8 Project’s residency program. Formerly working at one of Israel’s leading advertising agencies, her life shifted after October 7, when she was drafted as a combat sergeant in a search and rescue unit and lost close friends in the war. Today, her work sits at the intersection of advocacy, memory, and visual storytelling, using art as a tool for resilience and impact.
