This triptych combines documentary photography and abstract painting to explore rupture, vulnerability, and inner perception. Two 35mm film photographs, taken by Dmitry Pomazan, depict soldiers passing through a breach in a wall during battle, framing a central abstract painting created by Pomazan that evokes an abyss within the eye — a visual metaphor for the internal impact of conflict.
This work is sold as a single artwork (one edition), composed of three photographs.Dmitry Pomazan is a photographer based in Israel and a former resident of The 8 Project.
After serving in the military reserves for nearly a year, his practice - originally focused on food photography - shifted fundamentally following October 7, evolving into an exploration of war, memory, and human fragility. Shaped through the residency and personal mentorship with Tomer Peretz, he now creates photographic and mixed-media works that navigate the thin line between beauty and devastation.
