16"x20" on Fine Art Paper
This self-portrait diptych by Dmitry Pomazan brings together a baby photograph taken by the artist’s mother and a later self-image, creating a quiet dialogue across time. The pairing reflects an acceptance of destiny — a recognition that certain paths are shaped long before they are understood. This work is sold as a single artwork (one edition), composed of two photographs.
By placing these two moments side by side, the work speaks to continuity, inevitability, and the tension between innocence and lived experience, suggesting that what unfolds is, in some ways, already written.
Dmitry Pomazan is a photographer based in Israel and a former resident of The 8 Project. After serving in the military reserves for nearly a year, his practice - originally focused on food photography - shifted fundamentally following October 7, evolving into an exploration of war, memory, and human fragility. Shaped through the residency and personal mentorship with Tomer Peretz, he now creates photographic and mixed-media works that navigate the thin line between beauty and devastation.
